Cinnamon Apple Crumble
Ingredients: For the Apple Filling:
- 4-5 large homegrown apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss until the apples are well coated.
Transfer the apple mixture to a baking dish or pie dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the crumble topping.
Add the diced cold butter to the flour mixture. Using your fingertips or a pastry cutter, gently rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crumble topping is golden brown.
Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Serve the warm cinnamon apple crumble as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
This cinnamon apple crumble is a comforting and scrumptious dessert that highlights the sweetness of your homegrown apples. The warm cinnamon-infused apples and the buttery crumble topping create a delightful combination of flavours and textures. Enjoy the taste of your hard work from the orchard!
